From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Fan fiction (alternately referred to as fanfiction, fanfic, FF, or fic) is a broadly-defined term used to describe stories about characters or settings written by fans of the original work, rather than by the original creator. Works of fan fiction are rarely commissioned or authorized by the original work's owner, creator, or publisher; also, they are almost never professionally published. Fan fiction, therefore, is defined by being both related to its subject's canonical fictional universe and simultaneously existing outside the canon of that universe. Most fan fiction writers assume that their work is read primarily by other fans, and therefore tend to presume that their readers have knowledge of the canon universe (created by a professional writer) in which their works are based. GNU Free Documentation License Where can I find the Lord of the Rings Survivor fan fiction parody? Q. Several years ago, I read a hilarious fan fiction about the Lord of the Rings characters being playing Survivor. They only had crates of fish sticks, I think, and the story was written in diary-like format. Mentioned was something about the gap of Rohan not being a Gap at all, and Boromir trying to get the hobbits to blow his horn of Gondor. It was a lot funnier than it sounds, and I can't seem to find a link to this story anywhere. Help! Asked by shakespearewithlime - Mon Feb 23 23:02:59 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. All I can suggest is to do a search on fanfiction.net . If you can't find it, perhaps the author removed it. Fan Fiction is a direct copy of the original characters from either an author, playwright of TV / Film Company. This is written in new and often exciting ways by members of the public who place this on the internet. At the start of each story there is a disclaimer telling the world at large that the characters and places that are in the books or TV show or film belong to the Author or Company. This is to show that no copyright infingement was meant or taken. In this case Harry Potter and his whole universe belongs to J.K. Rowling. Any original characters that the writer has dreamed up are thier "intellectual property" but the school and the magical world remains the sole copyright of JK Rowling. It is worth stating that the… [cont.] Answered by W H - Wed Sep 17 05:27:04 2008 Is it possible to publish a fan fiction?
Q. I wrote a Jonas Brothers fan fiction that was really long, novel length, and someone told me it was good enough to publish, and that I should look into making it into a book. Is that possible? Don't answer if it's just to say that you don't like JB, because I couldn't care less. :) Asked by Nikki - Tue Jan 13 10:02:59 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. It is possible to publish anything! Personal publishers will print anything you care to send them and will print them in book form, as long as you have the money to pay them to do it. Some people I know have published their own books as Detective novels and Travelogues with nicely printed photos. It may be possible to get a spin off story, a la Star Trek and Dragon Lance stories, published. I would suggest contacting those publishing houses or a literary agent to submit it to them. Be prepared for rejection. Multiple times. Piers Anthony wrote a scathing story - But What Of Earth - about how the industry treats authors. If you have already posted a story electronically anywhere, no one in publishing will want to see it.
